Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2025

Sri Krishna Jayanti Mahotsava was celebrated with devotion at Sringeri on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The special puja to Bhagavan Sri Krishna performed by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam commenced at around 10:30 PM a little while after the Chandramoulishwara Puja which was performed by Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam. 

Bhagavan Sri Krishna was propitiated with Phala-Panchamrita-Abhisheka accompanied by the sonorous chanting of Vedic mantras from the Yajurveda and Rigveda by scholars of the Math. Sri Mahasannidhanam then performed Archana with the Krishna Ashtottara Shatanama and Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, and then performed the Mahamangalarati.

After Mahamangalarati, the Jagadguru performed Parayana of the 3rd Adhyaya of the 10th Skandha of Srimad Bhagavata Mahapuranam, describing the avatara of the Bhagavan and concluded the Puja.

After the Puja, Prasadam was distributed to all the devotees who had gathered from various parts of the country to witness the special Puja.

Puja at Pravachana Mandiram

Earlier, as part of the celebrations, Bhagavan Sri Krishna was propitiated with special Puja performed by the Math Purohita at the Pravachana Mandiram. Virgrahas of Rukmini Satyabhama Sameta Sri Gopalakrishna Swamy, Vasudeva, Devaki, Nandagopa, Yashoda and Balarama were all placed in the Puja Mandapa. Parayana of Vedic Mantras and Stotras was performed by devotees and students of the Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala.

Narayaneeyam Archana

On the following day, Sunday, August 17, 2025, a special Puja was performed to Bhagavan Sri Krishna with Tulasi Archana, accompanied by chants of Sriman Narayaneeyam and Vishnu Sahasranamavali, in the premises of Sringeri Math.

Sriman Narayaneeyam authored by the renowned 16th century scholar, Melpathur Sri Narayana Bhattatiri of Kerala is a condensation of Bhagavan Veda Vyasa’s Srimad Bhagavata Mahapuranam.

Puja at Other Sannidhis

Vishesha Puja was also offered at Sri Janardana Swamy Sannidhi in Sri Math and Sri Raja Gopala Swamy Sannidhi in Sringeri on August 16, 2025.

Special Musical offering

On this auspicious occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Sangeeta Sharada released a devotional rendering of Madhava Mamava Deva — a Taranga composed by Sri Narayana Tirtha, the illustrious author of the Krishna Leela Tarangini, a classic that celebrates the divine sports of Bhagavan Sri Krishna.

The 131st Varshikotsava celebrations of Sri Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala is held on July 30, 2025, at Guru Nivas.

33rd Vardhanti Mahotsava of Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam

The Vardhanti of Jagadguru Shanakracharya Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji was celebrated with so many Dharmic activities, Special Puja, Maharudra Yajnas for the welfare of Humanity. The CEO Gurusevanirata P A Murali ji elaborated all the various activities of Sringeri Math and Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam blessed all with an Anugraha Bhashana and a upadesha for everyone to chant daily.

Shravana Somavara Vishesha Puja

On the auspicious Mondays (Somavaras) of Shravana Masa, Vishesha Pujas will be performed to Lord Chandramoulishwara by Sringeri Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam for the welfare of humanity.

Shravana Somavara Vishesha Pujas will be observed on July 28, August 4, August 11, and August 18, 2025.

Special Puja at Sri Kalabhairava temple

As part of the 33rd Vardhanti Mahotsava, Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam performed a special Puja at the Sri Kalabhairava Temple in Narasimha Vanam. Prior to the Puja, the Poornahuti of the Pavamana Homa was performed in the divine presence of Sri Sannidhanam. Following the Vishesha Puja, Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam planted five saplings in the vicinity of the Sri Kalabhairava Temple.
